REGISTRATION TUESDAY 26TH JUNE : FISHING
DAYS WEDNESDAY 27TH TO SATURDAY 30TH
JUNE 2012
Those who have participated in the event
before will know that on top of the boat
there is always a fantastic array of
high quality prizes therefore if you
catch a decent fish you will not go away
empty handed AND you will have had a fun
packed week. This event is not only
about the fishing - which is of course
the most important part - but also about
the "Festival" with plenty to do for the
whole family and an excellent line-up of
top class entertainment throughout the
week.
It coincides with school holidays and
the South Coast Sardine Festival, the
Sardines can arrive any time from end of
May through to August therefore its a
great time to be on the South Coast when
there are plenty of big hungry fish
around.
Its early days yet but the conservation
measures introduced on a portion of
Protea Reef at the beginning of the year
already seem to be having an effect in
terms of numbers of fish being taken by
sharks; at this years July Festival this
was quite evident. We are currently in
the "Closed Season" for the protected
area and it will be interesting to see
what effect this has once it is
open again to lure fishing at the
beginning of November. For full details
of the restrictions check out the Shelly
Beach Ski-Boat Club website.
Entry form and more details will be
posted on the website soon, meantime PUT
